Quick Look: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Hmm... a lot of the environments and character designs remind of Wanted: Weapons of Fate.

Man, I was hoping this was gonna be good. I liked Outbreak and was hoping for something kinda similar. But in the post RE4 world I know it's a pipe dream>.<

This looks so generic and stale in every way. And the one aspect that I figured would turn out fine, the squad abilities, are borderline useless. Oh well, I guess there's hope that RE6 turns out fine.

Fair enough, fella, but I enjoyed the occassional famous face from other RE games. I'm not a hardcore RE fan, so I'm not too sensitive about 'canon' plot issues. For me, this game is enjoyable.

The menu at the start of this video looks like a knockoff of the Metroid Prime menu screen.

Socom meets zombies and they managed to screw it up? Meh.

"Doctor Gerstmann" does *not* sound trustworthy. :O

Is it just me, or is the audio messed up in this video? The guys seem really quiet and the game audio seems too loud.

Anyway, this game looks bad, but at the very least competent enough to be playable. I don't quite get the hardcore vitriol that's been spewed at this thing. What's actively terrible about this game? I guess I'm not seeing it.

See... This really doesn't look all that bad, other than the uneven framerate. I think Jeff's inherent bias against Resident Evil games (and it's not an unreasonable bias to have, given the quality of a lot of the recent entries) may be coming into play here. This is a perfect example of why Quick Looks are so great! Whereas normally I can trust Jeff's tastes to be fairly in line with mine, this may prove a notable exception, and I would never have known without this video.

EDIT: This comment was written before witnessing the pop-in zombies. That shit's unfortunate.

This game doesn't really look as awful as the reviews had me believe, but it's definitely not worth $60. It's incredibly unpolished and the controls seem bad. Especially that auto-stick cover thing, ugh.

Oh, and the part where the AI is so shit to the point where it's only worth playing online. And the competitive online modes being completely unbalanced due to a couple very OP tactics.

Is this a 60 dollar retail game? Looks like a PSP game that's not very good...

Yes, tactics. Like choosing the Juggernaut shotgun, running up to someone while you're invisible as the Recon class, knocking him over and laying waste. And I know that shit like that is so OP and hard to counter because that's how I've been playing the MP. I admire how aggressively knowledgeable you are about how bad and unbalanced this game is.

I think perhaps reviewers are being a little tough on this game as it promised alot, being in the RE universe. I'm still going to buy it, looks cool!

It's hard to tell, but the pricing on that gas station sign might be because Slant 6 is based in Canada, and those prices are close to the price you would see on Canadian gas stations because we measure gas in liters.

I don't think gas prices were that cheap in the US, even back in the mid 90s when RE2 and RE3 were coming out.

i dont know if this was already said... but HUNK's code name stands for Human Unit Never Killed.... anywho I bought the Collector's edition and i honestly dont regret it. granted there is some bugs and glitches... but that happens with any game... look at skyrim and that is an amazing game

I always love a game that lets me move by solely hitting the attack button.

I probably revealing a little bit too much about myself here, but I think the lady that voices Lupo in this also voices Assaj Ventress in The Clone Wars.

And yeah, this looks kind of awful. Bummer. I really wanted this to be alright.

This is a poor entry in the Resident Evil franchise. For shame, Capcom.

What? If you're serious about Hunk's code name, I'm calling it the stupidest acronym in history. "Human Unit Never Killed", as opposed to every other human alive and capable of being a "human unit"? God!

Multiplayer online dicks are gonna be multiplayer online dicks ( try the xbox live crowd ). Hardly the games fault is it? But yeah, the game doesn't look that good tbh

i dont see jeffs problem with this game ive played it and its not gonna change the industry but i will say its not as bad as hes making it out to be ...

But Skyrim is doing a lot more than Operation Raccoon City is trying to do. Anyways it's about personal preference and whether the bug and glitches really detract from the game.

The game, IMO (having not played it) looks incredibly mediocre and something that only RE fans will like.

From what I've played, It's decent. It's not going to turn heads,though.

I have no problem with a Squad Based shooter set in Raccoon City...but the gunplay in this game looks absolutely awful. There seems to be no weight behind the shots. I had high hopes for this, yet even playing as Nemesis couldn't make up for the poor gameplay.

I love me some VJ. Ahhh Yeahhhhh.

HUNK - He Understands Numerous Killings. Harrharr. I don't know, it looks boring.

This game is garbage. Check out my review but you really don't have to because this game is garbage.

When can we get an Armored Core 5 QL? We all know a Resident Evil game coming out in 2012 is going to be bad already.
