Add slopes, pools of water in non-water environments, enemies items and hazards that are missing, better functionality on the search and organization frontends.

Also a way to have a graduated item box. Something that pops out a mushroom when you're small and a fire flower when you're big, etc.

Nothing sketchy about it. Unless you think hot loot crates delivered to your door and filled with all sorts of Geek Gear is sketchy

Not sure if posted yet, Super Bunnyhop has a fairly interesting analysis.

As usual, Bunnyhop produced a pretty quality video. I actually disagree with him that the game itself is overrated, since this is one of the few times I'll agree with the overall metacritic rating of nine-ish. His criticism about being promised a false bundle of goods by the promotional material is also kinda hypocritical, considering he has a lot of videos acknowledging promo materials rarely deliver.

That being said, he makes a good point about people following the build-up to the game being burned by allowing expectations to be set by the promo material.

I agree, the biggest issue with MGSV was how it was marketed. That's a pretty good 'biggest issue' to have, though, and one that will only heal over time and distance from the hype. I think it's ridiculous to lay even the marketing at Kojima's feet like he's the only person who had any involvement in the creation of this massive 100+ hour open world action game. In the super bunnyhop video he wonders whether his judgement is being clouded by fanboyism and I'm gonna say yeah quite a bit.

To me it's like, this is the best open world sandbox action game I've ever played and its systems are an incredible achievement in game design. I'm not going to piss on that because my lorehive was dreaming of a revelatory Shoot Gunner backstory that never materialized. We know where that kind of fanboy appeasement gets us: MGS4, which was just a crummy, undercooked game that used its love letters to the fans as a crutch.

If you got the money for it, yes, it is definitely preferable. However, despite what people say you don't need a car. Like if you're in Nebraska or whatever you need a car-- in LA you don't need a car. The public transportation is there, and it's not total garbage. It's just not as robust as the other major American cities. I lived in Hollywood for 6 months without a car.

@friendlyphoenix: The skill points had basically nothing to do with why the gunplay was poor. The gunplay was bad because it was poorly designed. Skill points just increased your damage with a specific gun type and let you unlock relevant perks.

I just have a hard time seeing how they could maintain a good sense of character progression purely through perks. Are they going to expect us to spend perks on upgrading my lockpicking and computer hacking now? Or is that determined entirely by SPECIAL stats now that are more or less static, meaning you're ability to do that stuff is determined at the start?

Well the heavy lifting for lockpicking and hacking will almost certainly be minigames, probably with perks to make them easier or to access harder locks. SPECIAL stats might decide a starting point, meaning you can pop Mentats to get a slight edge.

Maybe. Let's not be crazy though, most of the skills were pretty poorly implemented in Fallout 3. It wasn't especially hard to max out all of your skills, making the whole concept of skills fairly meaningless.

New Vegas, on the other hand, showed how when well-implemented skill checks are the backbone of the Fallout franchise. Not to mention, aren't these games meant to be RPGs first and foremost? The big promise on Fallout 3 was "don't worry fans, we're not going to turn Fallout into an FPS" but it seems that they're doing exactly that now.

That said, as Jeff pointed out during the stream they've already lost the Fallout 1 and 2 fans and replaced them with about a billion new fans who would likely be happy with these changes.
