I know it's not the best, but I've been playing the game just fine with the Joy-Cons and the directional buttons. I think Nintendo did something to make them feel more responsive. Unlike in other Mario games, I can do running slides in Wonder as if I were using a regular D-pad.

This news bummed me out a bit. A preservationist studio like Digital Eclipse really shouldn't be beholden to a publisher like this.

EDIT: This thread is how I found out Ronimo went bankrupt. Wow.

@danielbruce: Wow you responded to a post I wrote 15 years ago!

I'm actually not sure how removing an image works now.

Wow, from my perspective, he responded to your post from 15 years ago 15 days ago!

I've seen people claim this is proof that he's not in Wonder, but I maintain that it is him, and it's further evidence that time has caught up to him. For a good while now, whenever we get new Mario lines, they've been less snappy and energetic. People have just missed it due to the prevalence of recycled older clips.

In any case, I wish him a nice semi-retirement. The dude certainly deserves it.

Here's how I fixed it:

Click the link at the bottom says "Do not sell my personal information" - click that and the cookie settings pop up. I enabled "functional" and "Performance" cookies. Now the video player works again.

Others have reported only "performance" are needed to fix the issue

Holy crap, this was it the whole time? I enabled "Performance" cookies, and now it works again. What the hell?!

@av_gamer: So does engagement on the website do anything for them? There have been times where I have just watched on YouTube and came back here to post something. Am I wasting my time?

@retris: I wouldn't blame Jess if she never wanted to come back here again. It's too late for Fandom to save face when it already showed its ass.

Two duders gone, and the video player hasn't worked at all for me for the last few days. (The latter being why I'm scanning the forum now.)

So, no. It hasn't. As far as I can tell, the only positive thing that has happened, the store reopening, isn't something for which it can take credit.

Grubb said this morning on Game Mess Mornings in response to the two big questions:

"Isn't our premium memberships supposed to keep this from happening?" - They thought so too

"How are they gonna produce all the content with only one video producer?" - They can't, they'll be less content.

So....I'm supposed to pay the same price for premium to make sure I get content from the creators I enjoy....except now less content from fewer creators?

This was my exact train of thought after hearing that, and it's why no one should be made to feel guilty about canceling their subs. Fandom has violently changed its value proposition for unknowable reasons, and unsurprisingly, folks have decided it's just no longer worth it.

. . .And because it needs to be made clear based on certain types of posts I keep seeing here and elsewhere: These shitty parent corps started this. Even if their actions were based on folks canceling subs after various departures (which we will never know without some crafty leaks), they are the ones who decided to focus on cost-cutting over value-building. They are the ones who chose to throw lives into disarray rather than determine how to best utilize their assets. They are the ones who force their workers to do more with less instead of scaling back executive salaries.

They are the enemy.

Never forget this.

If something happens to Jason, Perkins Miller will have blood on his hands.

I'm not sure what to do with my subscription anymore. I renewed after the update primarily to support the site since I have no interest in Discord stuff. Now, though, it's clear that subscriptions aren't enough to sustain the talent and content I enjoy here. It's probably time to give it up and let it go.

Euthanizing the site would at least end the staff having to live and work under a constant cloud of anxiety and uncertainty. The sooner they can move on with their lives the better.

I can't be positive about this. All I can do is ready myself for the day when the rest of the people I enjoy here reconvene elsewhere under a different name.

Also: Fuck Red Ventures and (especially) fuck Fandom.
