@nuttism:

Thanks for the comment. Well... I didn't get to mention that House in Fata Morgana does have some romance and some sexual content (no straight nudity though).

I can recommend these:

As Dusk Falls - Not anime and no dating elements. Endings can vary but not too drastically. Fun to play with friends/family since you can vote on your decisions.

428: Shibuya Scramble - Not anime and no dating elements. Only has one ending, other choices lead to a game over. The dialogue gets pretty goofy, I recommend watching the Playdate if you have premium.

999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors - First game in the Nonary series. Anime, but no dating elements. Has several distinct endings, not side endings, but has a true lore ending (recommend reading a walkthrough to get this). There is more "game" to this and you have to solve puzzles.

Steins;Gate - This game is probably not going to be to your tastes but I'm recommending it nevertheless because it is my favorite VN by a long shot. Very Anime, has romance interests, but is not dating focused. Has minor sexual content in that Anime-like way (think of a character accidentally walking into the bathroom while a girl is taking a shower). Has side endings where each ending has you end up with a girl. The true lore ending is extremely memorable and very sweet.

@prl412 Thanks! I wanted to write more but avoided it because of spoilers. I would have given the game a 4/5 if the game ended with Ellie's route.

100% on how the new characters are given poor backgrounds especially Jesse.

Also I found how they ruined the mystique of the Scars by just having the WLF go to their island and commit genocide.

Lastly the last few chapters are just plain dumb and unnecessary. I know it is to set up the big MGS4 fist fight between Abby and Ellie, but I was so over the game at this point.

@yyninja: Thanks for the explanation. This video made me genuinely a little concerned for people I’ve grown to care about somewhat and I don’t think that’s fair as a “joke”. Perhaps this is some kind of American humour I don’t understand, like roasting, which just seems cruel to me.

Hey, no problem at all. I was confused as well and found prior comments to not be very useful.

Nah, I don't think this is any specific regional humor, it's just a poorly executed parody.

I wasted 30 mins of my life just researching wtf was going on with this video.

To piece it together, Janina is the producer of Reel Layers a new show that GB announced last month. Their first (free) episode was on the movie Twister. You don't need to watch the whole video but it's basically a parody of a super in-depth movie analysis of a not really good movie. The important bit is at the end where they show a RIP picture with the text "In Loving Memory of Bill Paxton" except that the photo is not of Bill Paxton but of Dennis Quaid. Mind you Bill Paxton is actually dead.

Now I don't know if this is supposed to be a dumb bit that they are pretending the Bill Paxton estate is suing the shit out of Janina/GB/RV or they ARE really suing the shit out of them and forcing an apology out of them. Anyway I don't find any of this entertaining.

<3 to Danny and Tamoor, but couldn't keep watching. The video keeps juttering when they're riding on the vehicle and it is so uncomfortable to look at.

Oh man, this reminds me of Sting's games. Very low budget, but heavy on complex gameplay mechanics with an Anime style. I'm mixed on the use of anthropomorphism, but it makes sense for the context because CC2 is definitely not going to portray human kids fighting in a war.

Holy fuck this is amazing! If GiantBomb did more of these animations I would totally sign back on premium. Reminds me of the Bat vs Knife animation.

@yyninja Great read! It made me a dig a little deeper into the game and the fan translation and did you know they are officially releasing a Western version in English based off the said translation in 2022!

I do now! Very exciting that there will be one (finally). The western release will probably be the best one for Trails fans to play since it most likely have full Japanese VO, better UI and all that good stuff.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. The thing that appealed to me about GB vs other YouTubers was that they had an actual studio to produce content and create wacky skits. It looks like for now, everything will still be done remotely and it's going to be behind a premium subscription.

Grubbsnax is totally my thing. I always wanted a condensed gaming news weekly summary because I don't have the time to listen to the Bombcast every week or sift through online articles.

Bourne to Run is something I feel that has been done to death. I know the Souls genre is very popular but they have got to do something to differentiate themselves from what is already out there.

Guilty Treasures is okay? I guess it wholly depends on the games that are chosen.
