I do not find ANY PlayStation controllers comfortable with the possible exception of the DS4, which was...okay. But I have a friend who literally could not use it and had to buy a dongle to use a Switch Pro controller on his PS4 because the DS4 was unusable for him.

I made a thread about how bad the Dualsense was for me when I first got it, and a lot of people agreed. I did adjust to it and with better hand positioning it's fine, but I've never seen people have the same complaints about the Xbox controller, and a lot of people use that as the PC default.

I think Xbox has the best controller shape. The Switch Pro controller copied it even more blatantly than the DualSense did. The problem with Xbox controllers is they haven't bothered putting in the new bells and whistles that others have. No motion controllers for gyro aiming and the like is just inexcusable at this point, and Switch and Dualsense have better rumble. Adaptive triggers are a cool idea though they don't actually do that much in my experience.

@emnii: I knew the PowerSlave defense force was out there but I didn't know there was a Kileak defense force waiting in the wings. Truly every game has its defense force. I know your pain. I, too, have halfheartedly defensed bad games, like Balan Wonderworld. The Kileak of its time.

@cikame: Nightdive can do whatever it wants, I'm not responsible for its finances, but as a consumer this stuff just seems bizarre to me. Yes it's a funny joke to remaster PO'ed, and it has some game preservation value, but it's not just PO'ed as others have pointed out. Old games have gotten really expensive.

@apewins: Are there people paying for these obscure old games? I don't actually know. I'm sure Turok sold but I'd guess a lot of these games do very poorly. I'm someone who loves playing retro games in new wrappers but I'm not sure anyone has figured out the economics. Xbox couldn't make backwards compatibility of old games economically viable (PS4/5 and Xbox One/Series backwards compatibility is different because it's not done on a game by game basis), and Nintendo abandoned the Virtual Console. PlayStation's attempts to put old PS1 games on PS4/5 are a fraction of what they did for PS3 and they haven't even bothered with PS2 games, even though those are much more playable today, and PS2 is now much older and should be easier to emulate by PS5 than PS1 was when PS3 was released.

Maybe there are retro gaming whales who will pay a lot and THAT's the profitable business? Maybe you sell 60,000 copies no matter how much they cost so if you can do that for $20 each you can make a profit but if you do it for $10 you won't get many more sales and will make less money?

Or maybe it's price drop bait. Sell for $5 off the bat and people will think it's worthless but release for $20 and then people WILL buy when it drops to $5 because they think they're getting a deal. A common tactic.

Okay, look, we like to have fun here and all, but all kidding aside this game is legitimately awful. I understand it's for very small children but there's been no attempt made to actually make a game here. They've just taken mechanics that exist in other games and dumbed them down to the point where nothing you do matters and it's all just a mess. You can wander around and press A. That's it. People ask you questions and you can't even respond. I understand that young children can't necessarily read but they could have provided a simple "yes/no" option with voiced options or used some version of emoticons or a nodding/shaking head for yes/no. There were design options here and instead they just ignored them.

Mama pig just teleports all over. Maybe because they don't want to depict kids wandering around alone? Regardless it's lazy as hell.

Peppa's family is creepy as hell in the way they treat the new friend. Peppa's teacher tells you to hang your art in Peppa's home. This is a bunch of nonsense. Just let me play as Peppa if that's what you want. If you let me play as Peppa you could have fully voiced response options.

The whole thing is just shoddy and lazy and terrible and I think they want $40 for it off gamepass. It's insulting. Very young children deserve better than this. I understand you have to keep things simple and all that, but by the time kids are interested in video games they can do more complex stuff than THIS.

Also I hate Peppa Pig. When I was a kid we had Sesame Street and it's amazing how much worse TV for kids has gotten from the days of Mr. Rogers and Big Bird. Those shows attempted to impart adult lessons in ways that made sense to children. Peppa Pig just has someone make a dumb joke and then the whole family falls down laughing. It's awful.

I know you can't judge this even like something like Lil Gator Game, which is also intended for kids but for older kids who understand more and can read, but even on its own terms there's just nothing good or worthwhile here. It doesn't even try to be good or worthwhile. It just tries to be the bare minimum of a product that kids can demand from their parents.

I'm leaving this open today, not out of personal animus towards Bluey (I am, of course, ALWAYS completely impartial) but because I'd like to get more than one vote.

@chamurai: Don't blame your 1-year-old. Children are not alibis. "He was a bad influence on me." YOU DON'T NEED A BAD INFLUENCE! YOU'RE BAD TO THE BONE.

But ultimately the responsibility lies with everyone who voted or chose not to vote. You are just one frog. You don't have the power to damn us on your own. We all go down together.

@chamurai: You mean because you nominated and voted for baby games in pursuit of lulz?

If nobody else votes we're going to have spent a month playing baby games for the lulz, and I don't even know what this club is anymore or even what it ever was. Battletoads was supposed to be the nadir. Instead it was a waypoint on the route to the bottom, with Lil Gator Game being a false dawn.

So now they are going to finish the single player mode and release that. I have to admit that the not being able to pause thing was a serious issue for me (not that it's a good game in general but I found that incredibly obnoxious and it kept me from wanting to play in short spurts) so I may go back to this and finish it after the update is out.

On the other hand...oof. Imagine getting fired and then having to spend your notice period working on reworking the networking back end of the same horrible game that caused your studio to get shut down and that you've been working on for years and everyone hates. Grim times for those developers, though at least they'll be paid for that work I guess and it gives them more time to job serach while having an income.
